I absolutely love creating and baking!
My baking and cake decorating skills have bloomed into this bakery.
I fell in love with homemade decorated cakes at an early age. My grandmother made them for my birthdays, and I thought they were the best cakes ever.
After I was married, I discovered my sister-in-law made her children homemade decorated birthday cakes. I was pretty much in awe… Her butter cream icing recipe is still what I use to decorate cakes today.
Once my children were born, I knew I wanted to learn to decorate cakes so I could make special cakes for their birthdays. I set my sites on learning cake decorating. Since I tend to be a “do-it-yourself” person, I learned this art pretty much the hard way ... “On my own.” YouTube would have been such a big help way back then before computers were even invented! However, with a little bit of patience and a lot of practice, I slowly bloomed into a pretty good cake decorator.
My grandmother was a wonderful bread maker. She bought flour in fifty pound sacks, made bread every Saturday, and never had store bought bread in her house. My mom is also an excellent bread maker. So, between the two of them I learned how to bake bread and more importantly make zwieback. I must admit, my first attempts at bread making were not that successful. I practiced the “If at first you don’t succeed try again” method and eventually learned the skill of bread baking.
